ERYING launches MoDT HX platform featuring up to 24-core Core i9-13980HX CPU for only $366

ERYING launches 8 MoDT motherboards, featuring up to 24-core Raptor Lake CPUs

The company has expanded its offer with Intel’s 55W Core-HX models.

ERYING needs no introduction, but in case you missed the news, this company specializes in integrating mobile CPUs onto desktop motherboards. They achieve this by installing full-fledged mobile processors and adding necessary heatspreaders and mounting mechanisms to ensure that users can utilize this platform as if it were never intended for mobile use.

Their latest models now focus on the HX series, which represents Intel’s most high-end mobile series for gaming. These processors, now based on the 14th and 13th Gen Core series, are equipped with up to 24 cores and 32 threads. ERYING never launches their platforms alongside laptop makers; instead, the company tends to wait for older-gen CPUs to become cheaper and then sells them to customers. The same applies here as the company is introducing the 13th Gen Core series instead of the 14th, although in this case, these are the same Raptor Lake chips but with lower clock speeds.

The new motherboard is designed for the Micro-ATX form factor (244 x 244 mm) and is equipped with a 10-phase VRM design. It also resembles any desktop motherboard on the market and even comes equipped with two PCIe Gen4 slots. Just keep in mind that only one is full 16 lanes, and the other is 4 lanes, although it physically looks like a 16-lane slot. There are also three M.2 interfaces (two PCIe Gen4x4 and one PCIe Gen3x4).

ERYING developed a special integrated IHS (integrated heatspreader) cover for the mobile BGA package. As we know, these come without an IHS by default, and laptop makers design their own direct-die contact coolers. However, this wouldn’t work here because users will be adding their own coolers, so developing an efficient heatspreader was necessary. ERYING came up with a vapor chamber design, which looks like this:

The new HX series also marks the first time ERYING has developed an M-ATX board with four memory slots. This is possible because HX models are essentially desktop CPUs in a mobile form factor, now ‘returned’ to the desktop form. Officially, these support XMP OC profiles up to 5600 MHz, and the company is providing some figures from AIDA confirming that this works.

The I/O bracket doesn’t look as empty as on previous MoDT platforms; here, one has access to dual HDMI ports and one DP interface supporting 4K 240Hz, it is said. There are also four USB 3.2 5 Gbps connectors, two USB 2.0, and one USB Type-C 10 Gbps connector. Network options include either a wired 2.5 Gbit port or integrated wireless connectivity.

The company has shared some performance figures for the Core i9-13980HX model attached to a 360 mm liquid cooler. This CPU is a 24-core and 32-thread CPU with a max boost up to 5.6 GHz. It is essentially 0.2 GHz slower than the desktop i9-13900K version, but it’s worth noting that the HX CPU is 55W by default with a maximum power limit going up to 150W. The company is demonstrating how this performs in actual tests, which are attached below.

ERYING is launching a total of 8 models of HX series motherboards this time: i5-13450HX, i5-13500HX, i7-13650HX, i7-13700HX, i7-13850HX, i9-13900HX, i9-13950HX, and i9-13980HX.

The company has announced pricing for the following MoDT models:

  • Core i9-13980HX (24-cores up to 5.4 GHz): 2599 RMB (~$366)
  • Core i9-13900HX (24-cores up to 5.4 GHz): 2399RMB (~$337)
  • Core i7-13700HX (16-cores up to 5.0 GHz): 1899 RMB (~$267)

You can find these on the official ERYING AliExpress store here , however keep in mind that the pricing is much higher than what ERYING officially announced.
