AMD Ryzen 8000F to see global retail launch

AMD is reportedly launching its new Ryzen 8000 desktop CPUs on a global market soon, claims hardware leaker Hoang Anh Phu.

AMD launched its Ryzen 8000F series last month during a special Ryzen AI event in China. Thus far, these SKUs are being sold with prebuilt systems by many system integrators; however, these CPUs did not launch through the DIY market yet, even in Asia.

As a reminder, the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F are Hawk Point-based processors with Zen4 CPU architecture. More importantly, these CPUs lack support for integrated RDNA3 GPUs; those SKUs simply have this part of the APU disabled. This means that users are required to use a discrete GPU in the system; otherwise, these ‘APUs’ won’t work.

In exchange, the new CPUs are much cheaper than their G-series counterparts, and they do not require a dGPU. Some of the early 8700F systems can cost only as much as the Ryzen 7 8700G APU on its own, clearly showing that it is intended to be a much cheaper alternative. However, thus far, AMD has not confirmed how much the F-series SKUs would cost exactly, as neither was sold through the retail (DIY) market.

It is said that this may change soon, as AMD is gearing up to launch these CPUs in a boxed version. Official OPN codes can already be found on the AMD website, which means that such SKUs are already being considered. Hoang claims that this could happen soon, but no specific date was provided at this point.
