XFX teases Radeon RX 7900 XTX “Phoenix Nirvana” graphics card

XFX set to launch a new graphics card

Nearly 1.5 years after the launch of RX 7900 XTX, XFX is releasing a new model.

XFX China is set to launch a new graphics card called “Phoenix Nirvana.” This model has not been seen before and will debut soon. The company has even set up a preorder page where a certain number of gamers can order the GPU early with an additional discount. So not only has this product not been showcased in full, but there is also a preorder option for it, which is not something we would recommend taking part in.

There are only a few renders available, none of which show the full card, but we can make some good guesses. The first one is that it uses a triple-fan cooler design and measures 34.6 cm, which is massive. The card has a width of 13.2 cm and is 6.8 cm high (so about 3.5-slot).

It is equipped with three 8-pin power connectors and requires an 850W power supply to work. Underneath, one will find a large heatsink with eight 6mm heat pipes and a total dissipating area of 10,603,980 mm2 (216 fins). So the cooler is huge and has a large base plate, seemingly with a vapor chamber for the GPU and memory. The company even claims it has premium thermal pads with increased conductivity, something we rarely see in GPU marketing materials.

In terms of GPU specs, the card will ship with the same clock speed as the Speedster Merc 319, which is 2615 MHz boost clock. That’s not the fastest clock on the market, so we see wasted potential here, considering this model will have a thicker design, as seen in the render below.

When it comes to pricing, the card officially retails at 7899 RMB (1,090 USD), and those who preorder will receive a 100 RMB discount. That’s not a good price for the RX 7900 XTX, as even the MERC 319 retails at 7499 RMB. XFX better have a very good reason to price this model higher.
