Arrow Lake-S in Q3 at earliest, hints MSI overclocker

The next-generation desktop platform called Core Ultra 200 series may appear in the third quarter, says an overclocker at MSI.

Toppc, a renowned overclocker affiliated with MSI’s motherboard division, is well-known for his insights into architecture changes and their impact on overclocking. He often shares extensive testing results within MSI, offering early glimpses into platform capabilities. Recently, at the MSI Dragon event in Wuhan, China, Toppc hinted at an upcoming platform, named “ Next ,” focusing on the memory controller for the Arrow Lake-S platform.

At present, the only confirmed detail about this platform is its exclusive support for DDR5 memory, aligning with the AMD AM5 series. However, specific specifications remain undisclosed, with Toppc hinting at further details to be unveiled in the third quarter . In other words, it would suggest a potential earlier release (or announcement) for the Core Ultra 200 desktop series. It also signifies that companies such as MSI are already familiar with the platform’s capabilities and are making preparations accordingly.

In today’s MSI Dragon Shield Bureau event in Wuhan, Toppc mentioned during his speech that the “Next” thing in the image (which refers to the ARL-S MC mechanism) will have to wait until the third quarter to discuss. Upon reflection, there’s a slight possibility that COMPUTEX may directly distribute promotional materials.

The LGA-1851 socket platform, initially expected to debut in the fourth quarter of the previous year alongside the mobile Meteor Lake, faced delays. The cancelled MTL-S desktop series, intended as the first to utilize the new socket, was replaced by an update to the Raptor Lake series by Intel. Given the change of plans, it appears possible that Intel now aims to launch new series sooner.

In January of this year , details regarding the Intel 800-chipset series were leaked. These leaks confirmed that Intel plans to offer three variants of the Arrow Lake silicon: one with 24 cores, another with 22 cores, and a third with 14 cores. These variants will combine Lion Cove Performance cores with Skymont Efficient Cores.
