Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU may boost up to 5.5 GHz clock, no Core Ultra 3 SKUs
Rumors gain pace about next-gen Core Ultra CPU.

The information is based on a series of posts by MebiuW and Golden Pig Upgrade, who have revealed confidential information about Intel and AMD products in the past.
According to these posts, the next-gen desktop flagship CPU from the Arrow Lake-S series is said to boost up to 5.5 GHz, which is much lower than the current generation Core Ultra 200.

The CPU in question is the Core Ultra 9 285K processor, as revealed by another leaker @OneRaichu earlier this week. As we know, Intel is revamping the product naming schema for its upcoming desktop products (which has already taken place within the mobile series). Apparently, the flagship CPU is currently expected to be called 285K, not 290K, although such a part could appear as a successor to the i9-14900KS.
If the rumor is correct, that would imply that the Core Ultra 9 285K would match the clock speed of the Alder Lake-S processor known as Core i9-12900KS, and it would be higher than the 12900K. However, both the 13900K and 14900K series already offer higher clocks.
Intel Core i9/Core 9 Max P-Core Clock
- Core Ultra 9 285K – 5.50 GHz (Max?)
- Core i9-14900KS – 6.20 GHz (Max)
- Core i9-14900K – 6.00 GHz (Max)
- Core i9-13900KS – 6.00 GHz (Max)
- Core i9-13900K – 5.80 GHz (Max)
- Core i9-12900KS – 5.50 GHz (Max)
- Core i9-12900K – 5.20 GHz (Max)
Another interesting detail is that there is no Core Ultra 3 in the next-gen desktop lineup. Previously revealed information only mentioned Core Ultra 5, which was described as an entry-level SKU.

The Ultra parts are the only SKUs in the new lineup based on Arrow Lake architecture. However, Intel has yet to detail its plans about non-Ultra SKUs. The potential refresh or rebrand is probably not considered given that current-gen products are using a different socket.
