Core HX laptop CPU in a desktop, meet Legion 7000K
Lenovo introduces a whole desktop PC built on mobile platform.

We’ve discussed Mobile on Desktop (MoDT) motherboards emerging in China, providing an interesting alternative to traditional desktops. In many cases, these motherboards offer similar, if not identical, performance without sacrificing much in terms of platform feature support. This is especially true for those based on the AMD and Intel HX mobile series, essentially desktop CPUs in BGA packages.
Certain Chinese companies have found ways to incorporate these processors into desktop-class motherboards, even outfitting them with compatible desktop CPU cooler mounting systems. Since mobile CPUs lack integrated heatspreaders (IHS), such MoDT platforms often come with custom heatsinks compatible with these coolers.
A major player is about to enter this market – Lenovo, one of the world’s largest PC companies. The company has just unveiled their Legion 7000K PC , utilizing a MoDT platform based on Intel Core HX-series (13th Gen and 14th Gen).

The 7000K marks the first product of its kind to be sold in a standard desktop chassis. It appears that even mobile power constraints are not an issue here, as Lenovo is expected to support PL1 (Power Limit 1) up to 190W and PL2 up to 253W.
While the teaser image lacks information regarding the release date or pricing, the system is pictured with a custom CPU cooler and a full-sized graphics card.
Ultimately, gamers have a chance to purchase a high-end gaming PC at a lower price, but this comes with lower upgradability options (CPUs are soldered and cannot be replaced). However, everything else can: memory, storage, and GPUs typically can.
