Intel N250 ‘Twin Lake’ Low-Power CPU spotted, features 4 E-Cores

Intel “Twin Lake”, a new Post-Pentium series spotted

A successor to Alder Lake-N.

If you’re in the market for a thumb-sized compact PC powered by an Intel CPU, you might have come across Intel N100 CPUs. These are from the ultra-low-power series codenamed Alder Lake-N. Unlike the mainstream U/P/H series, the N line only features the Efficient cores in their design, greatly lowering the power requirements to a range from 6W to 12W.

The Intel Twin Lake series was first revealed by Raichu, who confirmed that this is a successor to Alder Lake-N . Not many details were available about the CPUs at the time, but some information was added later by MLID , who claimed that the series would feature up to 8 cores. Furthermore, Twin Lake is said not to be using a newer CPU core (Skymont) but relying on the same architecture as Alder Lake, which is Gracemont .

InstLatX64’s data mining has confirmed that the Intel N250 Processor is among the Twin Lake series SKUs. This specific part is reported to feature 4 cores and 4 threads , as Gracemont does not support hyper-threading . Additionally, it is indicated to have a base clock of 1.2 GHz .

The Twin Lake and Alder Lake-N mark the first generation of CPUs without the Pentium/Celeron branding. Instead, Intel has opted for a simpler naming scheme, simply referring to these CPUs as NXX Processor. Additionally, Intel has its Core i3-N30x series, which utilizes the highest configuration of Alder Lake-N.

The timing for the release of Twin Lake is uncertain. Rumors have suggested that it will be used in some affordable Google Chromebooks and should see a release in the second half of 2024. The first systems using this architecture are expected in early 2025.
