XFX intros Phoenix Nirvana GPUs in white
Featuring RX 7900 GRE and RX 7800 XT models.
Last week, XFX announced a new design based on AMD RDNA3 architecture. This is the company’s most advanced and premium model yet, called Phoenix Nirvana. The first card to launch featured a black color scheme with red accents and was based on the flagship AMD RX 7900 XTX GPU. Interestingly, this wasn’t the only release in the new series.
XFX is also introducing the Radeon RX 7900 GRE and RX 7800 XT cards, now in a full white design. Both SKUs have much in common, such as power characteristics or the fact that GRE uses the smaller Navi 31 XL GPU, which shares the same package size as Navi 32. That said, we often see board partners releasing cards simultaneously for both AMD SKUs.

As mentioned, the change for these cards is the color scheme. XFX has replaced the black shroud, backplate, and fans with an all-white design. The PCB is still black, but there are no red accents (stripes) on these cards anymore.
Not much has changed in physical design, though. Both models look identical to the 7900 XTX however they are slightly smaller with a length of 33.7 cm, a width of 13.2 cm, and a thickness of 5.9 cm (for 7900XTX that’s 34.6×13.2×6.8 cm). A clearly visible change is the lack of a third 8-pin power connector, as GRE/XT models rely on two. Both models use magnetically attached fans (sized 100+90+100 mm). Interestingly, the fans come in a separate box and need to be attached by users manually.

XFX confirms factory-overclocking for 7900 GRE at 2394 MHz boost (+6.7% OC) while RX 7800 XT ships with AMD stock 2430 MHz boost.
In terms of pricing, the 7900 GRE/7800 XT are much less expensive than the XTX version, with prices ranging from $640 to $670 once converted from RMB. Here, one should note that Phoenix Nirvana is only available in China.
