Apple Macintosh-inspired AM01S Retro Mini-PC has a flip screen and 65W Ryzen 9 8945HS APU

AYANEO AM01S Mini-PC features a display and AMD’s most powerful AMD mobile APU

Old design combined with modern technology.

The Chinese company is refreshing its AM01 Retro PC with significant changes. The original device did not have a screen, only a black cover with ‘personalized decorative stickers.’ It was not marketed as a premium device, as it featured two relatively old APU options: Ryzen 3 3200U and Ryzen 7 5700U.

For the AM01 S , the architecture has been heavily upgraded from Zen 2 to Zen 4, now powered by either the Ryzen 7 8845HS or Ryzen 9 8945HS , the latter being the most high-end “Hawk Point” APU currently offered by AMD. These APUs feature 8 Zen 4 cores with clock speeds up to 5.1 GHz and a modified TDP up to 65W (AYANEO allows for a higher TDP).

A new feature is the flip screen, which is now an actual color display instead of just a piece of plastic. AYANEO has not confirmed what can be shown on the screen, but based on previous AYANEO systems, it will likely display system information, a clock, and colorful graphics, depending on user preference. It is not a touchscreen, though.

The PC offers many connectivity options, including two USB4 Type-C connectors, two 2.5Gbit Ethernet ports, and six USB Type-A connectors, four of which are conveniently placed in the front.

AYANEO has yet to confirm the pricing and release date for the AM01S.
