Announced in January and released shortly after, the X1 is a large gaming handheld advertised as a 3-in-1 device. It functions as a tablet with a detachable keyboard (acting like a laptop) and detachable controllers (acting as a gaming device). The device debuted with Intel Core Ultra processor series (either Core Ultra 5 125H or Core Ultra 7 155H). The company has just announced that an AMD version will be launching soon.
The new system will feature the Ryzen 7 8840U processor , AMD’s latest APU based on Hawk Point silicon. In reality, especially for gaming, it’s essentially a Ryzen 7 7840U with a faster AI processor. Users will gain access to 8 Zen 4 cores and 12 RDNA 3 Compute Units. In synthetic benchmarks, graphics should be comparable to Intel Arc graphics built into the Meteor Lake CPU. However, in practice, Intel GPUs are visibly slower, making the new X1 AMD version better suited for gaming.

OnexPlayer has not announced the release date yet. However, the company did confirm it will ship with a 1 0.95-inch 120 Hz screen and Harman-certified stereo speakers. These are the same specs as the Intel version. It looks like this system is simply getting a hardware replacement. Hopefully, the company will provide a side-by-side comparison of both systems.
Additionally, there is a new teaser for the X1 Mini (picture in the article header), which is a version with a smaller screen. The company is providing even fewer details here, but it is confirmed to be AMD-based as well. The size suggests it could be 8 inches in size, definitely smaller than X1.
