Zen5 will be discussed in detail at the Hot Chips symposium
At this point, the only thing left for AMD is to announce the new CPU series.

AMD is set to discuss its next-generation Zen5 architecture on August 27, as confirmed by the Hot Chips symposium program. This event outlines the major areas of interest, presentations, and product launches scheduled over the next three months.
The Hot Chips program has a history of revealing topics companies will discuss prior to the symposium. For example, AMD discussed Zen4 and subsequently introduced the architecture in 2022. The upcoming Zen5 presentation will be delivered by Brad Cohen and Mike Clark, the latter being a lead architect for Zen at AMD.
Hot Chips 2024 Program (Summary)

- Lunar Lake: 16th Gen Intel Core processor (Arik Gihon, Intel)
- The next-generation ~5.5GHz IBM Z Processor and AI Inferencing Accelerator chipset (Christian Jacobi, IBM)
- NVIDIA Blackwell GPU: Advancing Generative AI and Accelerated Computing (Ajay Tirumala and Raymond Wong, NVIDIA)
- AMD Instinct MI300X Generative AI Accelerator and Platform Architecture (Alan Smith and Vamsi Krishna Alla, AMD)
- Next Generation AMD Versal AI Edge Series for Vision and Automotive (Jeffrey Chu, Tomai Knopp and Sagheer Ahmad, AMD)
- ➡️ AMD Next Generation “Zen 5” Core (Brad Cohen and Mike Clark, AMD)
The upcoming Hot Chips symposium will feature several interesting presentations. Qualcomm will discuss their Snapdragon X Elite ARM processors designed for Windows operating systems and modern AI PCs. By the time of this talk, Qualcomm-based laptops are expected to be on the market.
NVIDIA will present its Blackwell GPU architecture, focusing on advancements in the generative AI era. Similarly, AMD will cover their Instinct MI300X accelerator with a related theme.
Intel will provide an overview of their Lunar Lake architecture on August 26. Intel has confirmed the release of the Core Ultra 200V series in the third quarter, so this presentation might take place just before the product hits the market.
These presentations are aimed at professionals, analysts, and journalists rather than everyday hardware enthusiasts. Typically, these presentations are released later, but those not under embargo may be published or be discussed earlier.
