Qualcomm first Mini-PC with Snapdragon X Elite SoC is the Snapdragon Dev Kit, up to 80W TDP

Snapdragon X Elite based Mini-PC for developers and everyone else

Qualcomm has unveiled its Snapdragon Dev Kit for Windows.

The new Developer Kit follows the release of the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and the Microsoft Dev Kit for ARM development. This device features a newer CPU architecture based on the Oryon cores and is marketed as Snapdragon X Elite. Technically, this is the second-generation ARM Mini-PC powered by a Qualcomm processor.

The new Dev Kit comes equipped with a special 12-core Snapdragon X Elite processor codenamed X1E-00-IDE . This SKU was not disclosed before but is not expected to appear in any Qualcomm laptop. It has the similar max frequency of 3.8 but the dual-core boost is reportedly higher than X1E-84-100 at 4.3 GHz (in other words 100 MHz faster). It is also the only X Elite processor that will run at 80W TDP .

The Dev Kit has several connectivity options, including 3x USB4 Type-C, 2x USB 3.2 Type-A, HDMI, 1x Ethernet, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It also comes equipped with a WiFi-7 and Bluetooth 5.4 capable card. This is all enclosed in a 199x175x35 mm chassis. Users will be able to connect up to three 4K displays, it is claimed.

This product was released by Qualcomm, not Microsoft, and is aimed primarily at developers. However, it will not be limited to this group of users. In fact, anyone can buy it once it releases on June 18 for $899.
