GPD DUO with two OLED screens
The company teases new type of laptop.

Dual-screen laptops have been around for a while, with the most popular design being the ROG Zephyrus Duo, which has a smaller screen sitting right above the physical keyboard. However, some companies have been experimenting with the idea of equipping laptops with two full-sized monitors in a conventional laptop chassis. This is achieved either by replacing the keyboard and the screen or using alternative ideas like horizontal hinges. This concept will be presented by a different company at Computex soon.
Meanwhile, GPD is about to showcase their vertically stacked monitor setup in a laptop chassis. From the looks of it, this design may retain the physical keyboard, with two screens opening in a large portrait mode. For this to work, the second screen has to be thin and light; otherwise, this “Jenga tower” of screens would be unstable.

As we can see, GPD’s idea revolves around using OLED screens, which are lighter since they do not require a backlight. This new laptop would supposedly use an AMOLED screen specifically.
Such products already exist and have been shown by companies like Lenovo or ASUS. In those designs, the keyboard is an attachment and the screens use the cover as a stand. This setup is far from ergonomic and likely not stable enough for everyday use. GPD’s approach to integrating a vertically stacked monitor setup into a laptop chassis might result in a sturdier and more practical solution.
