AMD reportedly changed Strix Point APUs series naming again
Not Ryzen 9000, not Ryzen AI 100 but Ryzen AI 300.

Two weeks ago, ASUS revealed AMD’s plans for a new naming scheme for the next-generation Ryzen CPUs based on Strix Point silicon. This mobile architecture features Zen 5 cores and updated RDNA 3.5 graphics. Initially listed as Ryzen AI 100 on the ASUS website, the series will now be called Ryzen AI 300.
This information comes from Golden Pig Upgrade, a reliable hardware leaker from China and “Thinking about the future”, a Lenovo Product Manager. The change in naming is reportedly an effort by AMD to have higher SKU numbers than Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 200 series. Intel is set to launch its Lunar Lake CPUs in the third quarter, and the initial Ryzen AI 100 name might have seemed less competitive from a marketing standpoint.

Interestingly, AMD is skipping ahead by two hundred, naming the series Ryzen AI 300. This means that at launch, Strix Point will have higher SKU numbers than Intel’s Core Ultra 200 series.

So far, there have been no benchmark leaks featuring either SKU name, indicating that AMD has not finalized the decision, and no samples with the final name have been sent to manufacturers. This means that AMD Strix Point may still be weeks or even months away from launch.
ASUS listed a 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX 170 SKU, which is now reportedly renamed to Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. This is, at least for now, the highest known SKU in the series. Additionally, rumors suggest that there is also a Ryzen 9 AI 365 SKU featuring 10 cores.
