AYANEO upgrades three gaming handhelds to AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, pricing ranges from $699 to $1429

AYANEO KUN, AIR 1S and 2S get Hawk Point Upgrade

Goodbye Phoenix.

AYANEO is updating several of their gaming handhelds with the newer Ryzen 7 8840U APU. This new APU, based on Hawk Point silicon, is essentially similar to the previous Phoenix (7840U) used in earlier versions of these handhelds.

Users will get access to 8 Zen4 cores and 12 RDNA3 Compute Units for graphics. The main difference in the 8840U is an improved NPU (AMD XDNA AI processor), which has been tweaked for higher throughput. However, this upgrade is not particularly significant for gamers.

The company is upgrading three consoles: Air 1S, 2S, and KUN from the 7840U to the 8840U. The new pricing ranges from $699 to $1429.
