ASUS launches NUC 14 Performance with up to Core Ultra 9 185H and RTX 4070

ASUS launches ROC NUC 14 Performance

The new NUC 14 Performance is just a ROG version without gaming flair.

A premium NUC has been released in a 2.5-liter chassis, in ASUS continued effort to expand the Next Unit of Compute series after taking over the brand from Intel. The company already has three systems based on the NUC 14 series (Intel Core Ultra 100).

In March, ASUS launched NUC 14 Pro and Pro+ which come equipped with up to Core Ultra 7 155H or Core Ultra 9 185H respectively. Those systems are not equipped with discrete GPU option, but they come equipped with capable Arc graphics (with up to 8 Xe-Cores). Those systems are not intended to be used for gaming, which is the domain of the ROG brand.

A month later, ASUS launched its ROG NUC, its first high-end Mini-PC featuring Intel’s latest CPU and NVIDIA mobile graphics. This system is offered with Core Ultra 9 185H (the top Meteor Lake SKU) and either GeForce RTX 4060 or RTX 4070 graphics. This system is very expensive, with pricing listed at $2200-$2500, so out of scope for most gamers.

ASUS NUC 14 Series

  • 🆕 NUC 14 Performance : Core Ultra 9 185H, Ultra 7 155H, RTX 4060/4070 dGPU
  • ROG NUC : Core Ultra 9 185H (up to 65W TDP), RTX 4060/4070 dGPU
  • NUC 14 Pro+: Core Ultra 9 185H, Ultra 7 155H, Core Ultra 5 125H, Arc iGPU (up to 65W TDP)
  • NUC 14 Pro : Core Ultra 7 155H, Core Ultra 5 135H, Arc iGPU (up to 40W TDP)

For business users, It appears that ASUS will have a new option soon, called NUC 14 Performance. The product surprises us with the same chassis as the ROG NUC, in fact, they even have the same specs and connectivity options. It looks like the same Mini-PC, but without the ROG branding.

ASUS is not confirming the TDP for either CPU or GPU, so there might be some (artificial) changes to the system capability, but the internals should be mostly the same. The only difference bar the absence of the ROG logo is an optional Core Ultra 7 155H APU, which is not available with the ROG version.

ASUS is not confirming the power limit for the CPU or GPU, however it is stated that the power supply has been upgraded from 120W (NUC 14 Pro+) to 330W. The same power supply is used by ROG NUC.

The NUC 14 Performance is designed for business and enterprise use, adding a touch of “sophistication to any workplace”. Some might argue that the RTX 4070 GPU doesn’t seem typical for business applications, though.
