AORUS X870 leak confirms Ryzen 9 9950X Zen5 flagship CPU

AORUS X870 and Ryzen 9000 details leaked ahead of launch

The new motherboard for next-generation AMD Ryzen CPUs.

It appears that Gigabyte has now confirmed that the new AM5 motherboards will indeed carry X870. This means AMD will be skipping the X770 series for its new generation of motherboards. The X870 chipset will not be the only new chipset for these new AM5 CPUs, though.

The X870 AORUS MASTER is an AM5 motherboard, and it will support existing Ryzen 7000 (Raphael) and 8000 (Hawk Point) CPUs. However, the focus is on the Ryzen 9000 (Granite Ridge) series, now confirmed by the leaked presentation. The new series will feature four SKUs:

  • Ryzen 9 9950X (presumably 16x Zen5)
  • Ryzen 9 9900X (presumably 12x Zen5)
  • Ryzen 7 9700X (presumably 8x Zen5)
  • Ryzen 5 9600 (presumably 6x Zen5)

According to Gigabyte slides, Granite Ridge CPUs will suppor t DDR5-5600 memory by defualt. It will also support EXPO (overclocking profile) up to 8000 MT/s. This is an increase from 5200 MT/s specs on Raphael series. Furthermore, the Infinity Fabric clock has increased from 2000 to 2400 MHz.

Gigabyte is preparing several motherboards for Granite Ridge, such as:

  • X870E AORUS XTREME AI TOP
  • X870E AORUS PRO ICE
  • X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI
  • X870I AORUS PRO
  • B850 AI TOP
  • B850M DS3H
  • B850M AORUS ELITE AX
  • B840 D2H

This leak not only confirms that AORUS will have AI TOP series for AM5 socket, but also that there is B850 chipset already in the works as well as B840, which already mentioned in other leaks.
