NVIDIA to introduce Project G-Assist: GeForce powered AI assistants for gamers

NVIDIA Project’s G-Assist, an AI powered in-game assistant

GeForce GPUs will guide gamers to beat bosses.

What started as a 2017 April Fools’ joke has now become a reality. Seven years ago, it seemed impossible, but today, graphics cards can take advantage of locally run Large Language Models (LLMs) and NVIDIA has found a way to improve gaming thanks to such AI models.

While full details are yet to be disclosed, we already know that the G-Assist framework will allow gamers to use a knowledge database, powered by GeForce RTX AI on a PC or in the cloud. This framework takes several inputs, including speech, computer vision, and APIs, to provide better answers to gamers’ queries.

NVIDIA is showcasing G-Assist as a game guide that helps gamers find the best weapons and tactics to beat the game or guide new players in locating crafting materials. Additionally, it can check game settings and recommend optimizations to take full advantage of the available hardware.

That said, G-Assist is not like the April Fools’ joke where it would take control from gamers to beat bosses or offer fancy features like nutrition recommendations. However, a tool like this was never available before, and there is certainly some intriguing element here that may or may not spark something new. Who knows, maybe one day G-Assist will be required to beast AI-powered NPCs .
