Xbox Series X gets a discless option, features Robot White color
Xbox is launching new gaming consoles this Holiday.
Following the release of the new black version of the Xbox Series S with increased capacity, Microsoft is now announcing new versions of the Xbox Series X. Two out of three new consoles are all-digital, meaning they come without a disc player, and there is no option to attach one, unlike on the PlayStation 5.
The new options include the Xbox Series X in 1TB and 2TB variants. The former is a console in a white color (Robot White), while the latter is a black model called “Galaxy Black.” The latter has physical disc drive. Furthermore, the company is expanding the series with a new Xbox Series S with 1TB of storage, which will come in a white version.

The white version of the Xbox Series X has been rumored since March when the first images featuring such a device were shared. It was then that we learned this version would also lack a disc player. The same rumors claimed that the console underwent some minor upgrades for improved cooling through an upgraded heatsink, but this was not mentioned during the Xbox Showcase today.
Interestingly, the all-digital version of the Xbox Series X was rumored for much longer, following the leak from the FTC vs. Microsoft case, where documents featuring a cylindrical version of the console that also lacked a disc player were leaked. The reality is that the console does exist, but Microsoft has retained the original square design.

All three variants will be released this Holiday. The pricing for new consoles is as follows:
- Xbox Series X – 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition: $599.99/€649.99
- Xbox Series X – 1TB Digital Edition: $449.99/€499.99
- Xbox Series S – 1TB in Robot White: $349.99/€349.99.
