Club386: AMD Ryzen 9000X3D in September

It is reported by Club386 that Ryzen 9000X3D series is said to be launching much sooner than everyone expected.

AMD announced the launch of its Ryzen 9000 series for July, which was generally interpreted that the X3D variants would follow a quicker release schedule as well. The seven-month gap observed between the 7000 and 7000X3D series makes it likely that the 9000X3D models will be available around CES 2025.

However, Club386 , citing a highly reliable source, reports that the Ryzen 9000X3D series could arrive as early as September . This sped-up timeline suggests only a two-month gap between the standard and X3D variants.

Our source on the Computex show floor tells us AMD plans to launch 9000X3D processors in September. This matches the staggered release of X870E motherboards that we anticipate will arrive the same month. There’s no hard indication of which CPUs will arrive first, but an educated guess from historical releases suggests it’ll likely start with Ryzen 9 9950X3D and possibly Ryzen 9 9900X3D.

There was a level of confidence behind our source’s words, and they’re trustworthy enough to put stock into. That said, familiarity with how nebulous AMD’s launch schedules are urges taking this with a pinch of salt. Nothing’s confirmed until you have a sample in your hand as dates can easily change.

It’s possible there’s confusion between “launch” and “announcement.” If AMD introduces the new X3D series in September, the actual launch might still be a few weeks later, which would be more realistic. However, Club386 explicitly mentions “launch.” If this is accurate, the Ryzen 9000X3D series could be available sooner than expected, but it remains to be seen if this timeline will hold.

Ryzen X3D launch gap

  • Ryzen 5000: 17 months (5800X Nov’2020 ➡️ 5800X3D Apr’2022 )
  • Ryzen 7000: 7 months (7700X Sep’2022 ➡️ 7800X3D Apr’2023 )
  • Ryzen 9000: ❔ months (9700X Jul’2024 ➡️ 9800X3D )

AMD hasn’t specified when the new X3D models will arrive, but the company is hinting at changes for the new X3D series, including possible variations in the size of the 3D V-Cache.

The company has hardly any reason to launch two major updates for its AM5 socket this soon, especially given that the upcoming Intel Core Ultra 200 series “Arrow Lake-S” is officially launching in the fourth quarter. The potential X3D update could allow AMD to quickly reclaim the top spots in benchmarks upon it release, should Arrow Lake be proven competitive.
