AMD Navi 48 XTX graphics card spotted in shipping manifest

This is the first time we learn about the XTX version of the new RDNA4 processor.

Each generation of the Radeon series spans across multiple GPUs and variants. However, the upcoming Radeon RX 8000 series may be underwhelming in terms of GPU variety. We are back to the RX 5000 era, where only two GPUs were announced.

The RDNA4 discrete GPU series will feature two processors: Navi 48 and Navi 44, with the former expected to be a higher-tier product. This processor has just been spotted in a shipping manifest featuring an XTX variant:

The Navi 48 XTX may be the future GPU that powers the Radeon RX 8800 or RX 8700 series. The company has no plans for a higher-end GPU after deciding to scrap a multi-chiplet design . Earlier rumors suggested that this GPU could feature 18 Gbps GDDR6 memory, and if the shipping manifest data is any indication, it could be made by Samsung.

The current generation (RDNA3) uses D702, D712, and D745 boards, but these names have no meaning beyond confirming that they are new and have at least two variants.

The most recent rumors suggest that AMD will launch its Radeon RX 8000 series no sooner than Q1 2025. The focus is believed to be on the upper mid-range and mainstream segments. AMD has not mentioned its next-gen RDNA architecture in a long time, despite numerous opportunities, including the Computex keynote.
