Snapdragon X in Linux laptop
Tuxedo is a sister company of Schenker Technologies, known for making XMG gaming laptops. The company specializes in Linux-based laptops and plans to expand beyond the x86 architecture.

A significant marketing initiative was undertaken to prepare consumers for the launch of Qualcomm Snapdragon X Series on Windows on ARM. Microsoft and Qualcomm collaborated to ensure a smooth experience from day one, using both native ARM apps and advanced emulation, including gaming.
Linux already powers billions of devices, many of which are ARM-based, such as smartphones. Therefore, the Snapdragon X series should technically require much less work to operate on ARM architecture. Qualcomm is working on integrating Snapdragon X series support into the most upcoming kernels (already supported by 6.8 and 6.9).

Tuxedo is presenting a new laptop design, powered by the Snapdragon X Elite SoC (X1E80100) with 12 Oryon cores and an Adreno GPU clocked at 1.25 GHz. This laptop features a 14-inch 2560×1600 screen and an aluminum body. It supports up to 32GB of LPDDR5X-8448 memory and includes one PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe slot for storage (with 8+4 available PCIe Gen4 lanes and 2+2 PCIe Gen3 lanes).

This is not a retail unit or a production-ready system. It’s a prototype that will soon be replaced by a second unit supporting the next two Linux mainline kernels (6.10 and 6.11). The first prototype still lacks some drivers, which are expected to be available later.
Tuxedo makes it clear that this is not a high-end laptop or a gaming machine. It is designed for business-class “workhorses.” However, it remains to be seen how popular it will become among corporate and business users.

The company is not committing to a release date but mentioned it would be great to see the laptop “under a Christmas tree in 2024.”
