AORUS 14000, even faster Gen5 SSDs
Third update for Gigabyte’s high-end SSD series.

Gigabyte is introducing new SSDs within its AORUS Gen5 lineup. This is the third update to their solid-state storage attached to the PCIe Gen5 interface and controller, and so far, it is the fastest version.
According to Gigabyte, the new SSDs use Phison PS5026-E26 controllers and 232-layer 3D TLC NAND Flash. These flagship SSDs come in three capacity options: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB, each with different maximum speeds. The 4TB model has not yet been listed, but it is mentioned in the press release.
The AORUS Gen5 14000 will offer sequential read speeds over 14GB/s for the first time, which is over 2GB/s faster than the AORUS 12000 released a couple of months ago. The write speed has also been increased to 12.7GB/s.

Overall, AORUS SSD series gained 45% in read speed and 33.6% in write speed since the first generation of AORUS Gen5 SSDs. And the speed is nearing the maximum (theoretically that’s 16 GB/s).

Gigabyte has not announced pricing for its new SSDs yet, but it is safe to assume they will be costly. The latest model (12000) retails at $269 for the 2TB option and $154 for the 1TB option.

The company is recommending Its AORUS X670E or Z790 motherboards equipped with PCIe Gen5 interface to fully utilize the new SSDs. In Intel’s case, however, that means sacrificing the speed of the GPU as the LGA1700 CPU only have 16 Gen5 lanes available.
