XFX Radeon GPUs with swappable fans now available on Newegg
XFX has now confirmed the release of its new “MagAir” series for June 18, but it looks like they are already on sale.

This is not strictly speaking the first release date; rather, XFX is now confirming that the series we have already seen on the Chinese market will be launching in the US soon (actually, they launched already). The series is not called “Phoenix Nirvana” like the Chinese models, but apparently, they feature new names such as MERCURY MagAir and QICKSILVR MagAir .
It is now confirmed that XFX will be launching as many as three new models, as listed by Newegg (affiliate links):
- XFX QICKSILVER MagAir Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB White (RX-78TMAIRW9): $549.99
- XFX QICKSILVER MagAir Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB Black (RX-78TMAIRF9): $549.99
- XFX MERCURY MagAir Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB (RX-79XMAIRB9): $999.99
As we can see, there is a small change in the lineup compared to the Chinese launch. There is no Radeon RX 7900 GRE, but instead, there is a black version of the RX 7800 XT. The Navi-32 based model is priced $50 higher than AMD’s MSRP, which is hardly justifiable at this point, considering one can find the 7800 XT for much less than $500. The RX 7900 XTX model is available at $999, which is still AMD’s official MSRP, but also $100 higher than the cheapest custom models on this SKU.

These new cards feature an entirely new cooling design with Honeywell PTM 7950 phase-changing thermal pads. This new type of thermal pad has higher thermal conductivity. The cooler underneath the fans has 216 ultra-thin matrix fins with a high and low structure for improved airflow. The heatsink is attached to a vapor chamber. Lastly, the backplate is aluminum die-cast.

The official launch date is June 18, so it is expected that all MagAir models will be available on that date. At the time of writing, only the 7900XTX and 7800XT in black were in stock.
