ASUS has recently introduced brand-new Z790 and B760 AYW motherboards. These boards expand the AYW series to five models, which already feature AMD A620 and B760 chipsets. The new models include the Intel flagship Z790 chipset and a new version of the B760 featuring DDR4 memory support.

The Z790-AYW WIFI W is an all-white model (pictured above on the right side) designed for LGA1700 (12th/13th/14th Gen Core) CPUs. This high-end design supports memory up to 8000 MT/s through XMP overclocking profiles, features an improved power design (12*60A)+1*60A+1 power stages), and supports modern connectivity standards such as WiFi 6 and 2.5 Gbit Ethernet.

Additionally, ASUS is preparing a new board featuring two DDR5 memory modules supporting speeds up to 8400 MT/s. This board, specifically called “Z790-AYW OC WIFI,” is also advertised by ASUS affiliate overclocker SAFEDISK, who claims the board can reach 8800 MT/s with overclocking.

ASUS has provided a list of achievable speeds with various CPU coolers. It appears that with some exotic coolers, one can easily surpass 8800 MT/s using a chiller or even reach 11150 MT/s with liquid nitrogen. The list from ASUS also indicates that it is possible to boot with 10000 MT/s memory.

  • AIO360 : i9-14900k & DDR5- 8200 OC to DDR5-8400 MT pass
  • Chiller : i9-13900k & DDR5- 8800 MT pass
  • Chiller : i9-14900k & DDR5- 8800 MT pass
  • AIR : i5-14600k & DDR5- 10000 boot
  • LN2 : i9-14900KF & DDR5- 11150

The Z790 AYW OC board does not have a release date yet. However, with Intel’s recent announcement of the new platform, confirmed with the LGA-1851 socket for the Arrow Lake-S series, the need for high-end LGA-1700 platforms, especially for overclocking, may be limited.

The new Z890 series is set to launch in the fourth quarter, which leaves barely 3 months for the new ASUS board to shine. However, it may still be enough to beat some world records, which seems to be the main purpose of this design.
