Canadian retailer lists Ryzen 9 9950X at 839 CAD, cheaper than 7950X(3D) at launch
The new series may launch on July 31st.

AMD appears to have adjusted their strategy and may avoid major price cuts for the upcoming Ryzen 9000 series launch next month. The new “Granite Ridge” CPUs, featuring the Zen5 architecture, are expected to be priced lower than the previous “Raphael” CPUs with Zen4 cores. This move could eliminate the need for significant price reductions after the launch.
According to a preliminary listing from Canada Computers, which has since been taken down but was spotted in time by Wccftech , the new CPU called Ryzen 9 9950X with 16 cores could debut at 839 CAD (approximately 610 USD). This suggests it would be cheaper at launch than the Ryzen 9 7950X and 7950X3D, which launched at 699 USD in the US.

Canada Computers listed the 7950X3D at 939 CAD for several months post-launch. The price was reduced to 879 CAD around July, but this is still higher than the expected price for the 9950X. The screenshot below shows the price two weeks after launch:

We also have some hints about the potential launch date for AMD’s new CPUs. It seems AMD is targeting the very last day of July, specifically the 31st. This means we will have to wait at least six weeks before the new CPUs appear on shelves. The hint was provided by the US retailer B&H Photo Video.

However, this isn’t the only hint. A credible AMD leaker, Hoang Anh Phu, also teased this date earlier this month under our post. Additionally, he mentions that there is reportedly a separate media event planned for early July, called “Zen5 Tech Day”. This event will likely provide further details on gaming performance and pricing. However, it remains unclear if this information will be officially released by AMD or through leaks.
