Better check the hardware first: Same Mini-PC design houses AMD and Intel hardware

Chinese company replaces Intel hardware with AMD Ryzen in the same Mini-PC chassis

Much like graphics cards, you can now buy a Mini-PC with two entirely difference architectures.

A Chinese brand is introducing a new Mini-PC called AX8 Pro. This system features AMD’s Ryzen 9 8945HS or 8845HS APU, codenamed Hawk Point. Those familiar with Intel NUC Mini-PC launch schedules might recognize the design.

The Intel NUC 13 Pro , codenamed “Vivid Canyon,” was launched on July 1st, equipped with Raptor Lake-P processors. There was also a 12th Gen Core version, but essentially this was of the last products Intel released before selling the NUC business license to ASUS.

Geekom is now using this compact chassis (117×112 mm) for its Ryzen system, and it appears identical to the Intel version, even in terms of connectivity options, which is quite unexpected. The only real difference between the systems visually is the color.

The company frequently partners with Intel for its Mini-PCs, suggesting there was likely an exchange of information and possibly Intel’s approval to use this design. It could even have been ASUS’s decision, not Intel’s, at this point.

The AX8 Pro is priced at 4199 CNY for the 8845H model and 5099 CNY for the 8945HS model, which is approximately 580 to 703 USD. Both models include 32GB DDR5-5600 memory and 1TB PCIe Gen4x4 storage. In comparison, the NUC 13 Pro launched at 499 USD, but it was a barebone system.
