AINEX has new L-shaped connectors for RTX 40 GPUs

New adapter for cases that do not have enough room for cabling.

The L-shaped adapters are still around, even after CableMod’s attempt. Such adapters allow users to use existing cables, which are always bundled with graphics cards using the 16-pin power connectors (12VHWPR or 12V-6×2). In any other case, users are recommended to use native cables provided by the power supply companies or order special L-shaped cables dedicated to their supply unit.

The AINEX adapters are available in two variants: standard type and reversed type. Some graphics cards have the power connectors reversed (like ASUS ROG models), or there are PC cases where power supplies are mounted at the top. In this case, the reversed connector may be more suitable.

A neat feature of this adapter is the blue color marker, which was added to ensure that users fully plug in the adapter. This is similar to what MSI has proposed for their power supplies: as long as the color is visible, the connector is not fully plugged in.

The company does not mention the 12V-2×6 (the updated version) compatibility, only the older 12VHWPR standard. Unlike CableMod, who ultimately failed with their adapter and issued refunds to customers after canceling the product, AINEX has no intention of reimbursing the cost of the graphics card or power supply if there is an issue with the connector. The company explicitly says, “use it at your own risk,” which does not sound very promising.

Needless to say, the product may serve its purpose, especially for GeForce RTX 40 models under 450 watts, which are less likely to encounter issues. However, users should still refer to the power supply company for potential native L-shaped solutions if such exist.
