Gigabyte launches Radeon PRO W7900 DS and W7800 AI-TOP cards
Special custom boxes for Radeon PRO.
Board partners releasing professional graphics cards are not uncommon. What is rare is when these companies make custom series and even packaging, like Gigabyte’s case. Earlier this month, Gigabyte officially announced its AI-TOP series, a special series dedicated to Large Language Models and generative AI, which often rely on multi-GPU solutions. The latest trend is to use consumer grade hardware like the RTX 40 series.
The company announced its RTX 4070 Ti SUPER design with a special blower-type cooler. At the same time, AMD announced its Radeon PRO W7900 Dual-Slot model, a special version of the existing Navi 31 card but designed to be slimmer and better fit for multi-GPU clusters. This model has been used by Gigabyte for their AI-TOP series as well.
Gigabyte is introducing two cards:
- Radeon PRO W7900 Dual Slot AI TOP 48G W7900 AI TOP 48G
- Radeon PRO W7800 AI TOP 32G W7800 AI TOP 32G

The former features the Navi 31 GPU with 6144 cores, while the W7800 has 4480 cores. This latter configuration is not available within the gaming series and sits between the 7900 GRE (5120 cores) and the 7800 XT (3840 cores). The W7900 also comes equipped with 48GB of capacity, while the W7800 features 32GB, which is twice as much as the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER.
Probably the biggest advantage of Radeon PRO GPUs over the RTX 40 series is support for DisplayPort 2.1, which includes the highest UHBR20 variant. NVIDIA has not released a single card with this standard; all gaming and professional GPUs are limited to DP 1.4 specs.

The current AI-TOP lineup features three cards featuring 16GB, 32GB and 48GB capacity, but only Radeon GPUs support Error Correction Code (ECC). What they all have in common are blower-style and dual-slot cooling solutions. They also have power connectors located in the rear, but they differ in implementations (12VHWR or standard connectors).

Gigabyte did not announce pricing for its AI-TOP models, but we do know that RTX 4070 TI SUPER costs around $599, while Radeon PRO W7900 retails at $3499 and W7800 costs $2499, so Gigabyte’s pricing shouldn’t be far off.
