“Ti Super WindForce Max”
Gigabyte intros new RTX 4070 Ti SUPER model with power connector in an unusual spot.
Gigabyte has quietly launched a new RTX 40 graphics card based on the 4070 Ti SUPER SKU. It is part of the Windforce series, which is the company’s budget-oriented segment. However, this isn’t the first Windforce based on this particular NVIDIA model.
The company launched the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Windforce OC in January, but the new model looks different and doesn’t even have the same GPU clock. In this case, the ‘MAX’ moniker seems fitting. The 4070 Ti SUPER features 8,448 CUDA cores and 16GB of GDDR6X memory. While the original Windforce OC features a 2625 MHz boost (+15 MHz over the reference model), the new Windforce MAX OC offers 2655 MHz (+45 MHz) out of the box.

A detail that shouldn’t be ignored is the fact that the MAX (as the name implies) is a much larger GPU. We are talking about a 7-centimeter difference in length and a 1-centimeter increase in width. The card is also slightly thicker. If we look at RTX 4090 WF V2 and 4080 SUPER WF V2 then we notice that all three cards are equipped with the cooler of the same size. Since 4070 Ti SUPER uses AD103 GPU which is pin compatible with larger AD102, many brands reuse their coolers for lower SKUs. This wouldn’t be possible with the non-SUPER version.

Cooling aside, perhaps the coolest feature of the new MAX design is the “hidden” power connector. It is located at the rear and concealed by the cooler, with enough room for the cable to be connected and bent safely. This completely removes the problem of the power connector being located on the side, which requires additional space for cable bending. The increased length is not wasted, either. One can still see the cable though, so there is still some room for improvement, but at least this way one still has access to the cable.
Gigabyte has not yet put the new Windforce MAX for sale, so pricing is still unknown.
