AMD Strix Point Zen5 APU is getting a 12-core Ryzen AI 7 PRO variant

According to the shipping manifests dated mid-May, AMD is preparing at least two variants of the Ryzen PRO processor based on the Strix Point silicon. As a reminder, AMD announced its new mobile platform earlier this month, which is coming to the consumer segment around mid-July. This architecture features Zen5/Zen5c CPU architectures combined with a new RDNA3.5 GPU core design.

So far, only two parts have been announced: Ryzen AI 9 365 and Ryzen AI 9 HX 370: both for the consumer/gaming segment. However, it appears that AMD is also preparing PRO variants under different OPN codes. Interestingly, one of them is listed under Ryzen 7, which would be the first product from Strix Point in this tier.

  • Ryzen AI PRO 7 XXX (100-000001571) 🆕

  • Ryzen AI 9 365 (100-000001530)

What is also interesting is that this would be a 12-core version, just like the HX 370 for gaming. The business-oriented Ryzen PRO series typically follows consumer naming and core designs, so this change is a bit confusing, to say the least.

However, AMD made some significant changes to the Ryzen AI 300 naming schema, which were known as Ryzen AI 100 almost until the end of May. This could lead to some inaccuracies in naming for the series. In other words, just because the manifest says there was a Ryzen AI 7 PRO version planned, it doesn’t mean it will ultimately make its way to the market under this name.

AMD has not announced its Zen5 PRO series yet. The company is also expected to introduce a business CPU series for desktops at some point. However, next month’s launch is all about consumer hardware.
