Intel Core Ultra 9 288V could be Lunar Lake flagship SKU
Launch could feature more SKUs than previously expected.

In the coming weeks, expect to hear more about Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 200V series, codenamed Lunar Lake. Intel’s announcements at Computex focused heavily on this series, which will represent a very important launch for the company as it introduces several new architectures.
The primary new feature is the NPU unit capable of delivering up to 48 TOPS, enabling Intel to achieve Microsoft Copilot+PC certification. Additionally, the new series will feature entirely new CPU and GPU architectures. It shares CPU specifications with Arrow Lake, debuting with Lion Cove Performance Cores and Skymont Efficient Cores. Lunar Lake will feature a 4+4 core configuration (in fact the entire lineup will) and its focus will be on low-power mobile devices. Meanwhile, Arrow Lake targets mainstream mobile and desktop segments.
Another special feature is the Xe2-LPG GPU architecture, offering a preview of Intel’s next-gen Battlemage. While there were no updates on discrete variants, the Xe2 architecture seems promising, with companies like MSI planning to replace their Core Ultra 100 gaming handhelds with the 200V series.
We have received information on the upcoming Core Ultra 200V SKUs, totaling nine variants. Four known variants include Core Ultra 7 and Ultra 5 SKUs, featuring either 8 Xe2-Cores or 7, with 32GB or 16GB LPDDR5-8533 memory. Since the memory is integrated into the package, each SKU has different memory capacities, which are not user-upgradable.
Interestingly, a Core Ultra 9 SKU is also planned for Lunar Lake. While we couldn’t confirm the full specs, we did learn through an independent source that there is indeed a Core Ultra 9 SKU.

According to the chart, the Core Ultra 9 288V will feature a 30W PL1 (Processor Base Power) and 30W PL2 (Maximum Turbo Power). It will be the only SKU in the lineup with a 30W PL1, while the remaining SKUs will adhere to a default 17W TDP. This is similar to Intel’s approach with the Core Ultra 100H series, where the Core Ultra 9 185H was the only SKU with a 45W TDP by default.
The highest clock speeds expected are 5.1 GHz for P-Cores and 3.7 GHz for E-Cores. The NPU performance will vary from 40 to 48 TOPS, while the XMX (GPU) performance will range from 53 to 67 TOPS, depending on the SKU (GPU cores and GPU clocks).
Additionally, Intel will introduce a more natural naming scheme for its integrated graphics. The Core Ultra 9 and Ultra 7 will feature Arc A140V graphics with 8 Xe2-Cores, while the Core Ultra 5 will include Arc A130V with 7 Xe2-Cores. This is an improvement over the previous “Arc Graphics” naming. The graphics will boost up to 2.05 GHz.
Rumors suggest that the Intel Core Ultra 200V series will launch as early as mid-September.
