ASUS says “2x Fans. 2x Fun”: intros Radeon RX 6600 DUAL V3 graphics card

DUAL V3 is based on Radeon RX 6600 non-XT

It’s not just the RX 6750 GRE and RX 6500 XT SKUs from the RDNA2 desktop family getting updates. ASUS is introducing a new RX 6600 DUAL V3, a custom variant based on the cut-down Navi 23 graphics processor from AMD.

Although this card arrives nearly three years after the RX 6600 non-XT graphics card, ASUS claims it uses “the latest RDNA2” architecture, which is not entirely accurate. AMD has released a new series and even a successor to this model (RX 7600). However, the last-gen RX 6600/6500 models are clearly targeting the sub-$200 price range, while the newer RDNA3 models cost about $50 more.

The new card is simply called DUAL V3, even though there was never a V2 revision. Previously, there was a DUAL card based on this SKU, but it had an entirely different design. Interestingly, the newer RDNA3 models seem to use a design very similar to last-generation products. Therefore, the V3 would be the first Radeon GPU to feature an updated DUAL cooler.

From what we can tell, the V3 is a bit smaller than V1. However, like the original model, it does not offer any factory overclocking, despite the description mentioning an OC mode, which does not appear to make any sense.

  • OC mode: up to 2491 MHz (Boost Clock)/ up to 2064 MHz (Game Clock)
  • Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure.
  • 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence.
  • Dual ball fan bearings can last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs.
  • A protective backplate prevents PCB flex and trace damage.
  • Auto-extreme uses automation to enhance reliability.
  • GPU Tweak III software provides intuitive performance tweaking, thermal controls, and system monitoring.

While the timing of ASUS launching this model might raise some questions, it’s hard to complain about adding a new card to a relatively small lineup. For Radeon, having more custom GPUs is always a good thing.
