Intel confirms flagship Arc Battlemage “BMG-G31” graphics processor with 32 Xe2-Cores

Intel Battlemage G21 and G31

Intel’s next-generation of discrete GPU series might feature two processors.

Intel has confirmed the new GPU in the Battlemage series, codenamed G31. While this isn’t the first mention of such a GPU, this is no doubt the first time the company has listed the new GPU on its website.

The BMG-G31 GPU appears on Intel’s page listing design tools for the BMG series. The product is listed as “PTT Engagement – BGA3283- BMG-G31 VRTT Interposer – Prototypes,” confirming it uses a BGA package with 3283 pins. Further browsing of the database reveals “BGA2362-BMG-X2 Interposer for the Gen5 VR Test Tool,” suggesting a smaller Battlemage GPU with 2362 pins.

Currently, we are aware of three Battlemage GPUs:

  • BMG-G10 (BGA-2362) – reportedly canceled
  • BMG-G21 (BGA-2727)
  • BMG-G31 (BGA-3283)

In comparison, the ACM-G10 (flagship Alchemist) uses the BGA-2660 package.

One thing to note about Intel Gxx tiers is that they do not explicitly refer to performance. In fact, the current ACM-G11 GPU is smaller than the G12, while the G10 is the largest ACM processor. For Battlemage, the BMG-G31 is expected to be the largest (with 32 Xe2 cores), while the G21 is said to feature 20 of the cores. The G10, which was to feature 28 Xe2-Cores, is reportedly canceled.

It’s supposed to be 32 Xecore die afaik

Aside from listing parts used for Battlemage development, Intel has not directly confirmed the lineup of new GPUs or revealed the release date for the new gaming processors. It is now claimed that Battlemage will launch in early 2025 at the earliest. However, Intel has not shared an updated roadmap featuring Battlemage since 2022. Initially, the BMG series was targeted for release between 2023 and 2024, but even in its laptop integrated form (Lunar Lake), it will not launch until late Q3 2024.
