First Ryzen 9000 CPUs go on sale: €310 to €660 with availability in September

A Slovenian retailer has put four of AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 9000 CPUs up for preorder. Yes, this is the very first preorder for Zen5 desktop, but be aware that shipments will start no sooner than August 2nd . However, this retailer is the first to reveal Ryzen 9000 pricing, and fortunately, there are no unpleasant surprises. It appears that the new Ryzen will indeed be cheaper than Zen4 at launch.
The 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X (flagship) SKU is listed at €659.90 , the 12-core 9900X will cost €499.90 , while the 8-core 9700X is expected to hit the shelves at €399.90 , and 6-core 9600X models will launch at €309.90 .
Ryzen 9000 Pricing (Funtech/Slovenia):
- Ryzen 9 9950X : €659.90
- Ryzen 9 9900X : €499.90
- Ryzen 7 9700X : €399.90

If we compare the launch prices of the Ryzen 7000 and later 7000X3D series to the official retail prices announced for the Ryzen 9000 series in Europe (using the German MSRP for simplicity), the Ryzen 9000 series would no doubt cost less across the whole stack. In fact, at €660, the 9950X would be even cheaper than the 7900X or 7900X3D at launch. However, since that debut, both SKUs are now much cheaper, with the flagship 7950X3D currently retailing at €519. This means the 9950X would cost €90 more than the current price of the 7950X3D.
New CPUs always come at higher prices immediately following the official launch, but if Ryzen has taught us anything, it’s that pricing will be adjusted quickly, especially with the 9000X3D series now expected as soon as September . Also, the 6-core model may be the toughest sell right now with an almost €120 price difference compared to the 7600X, but it’s important to note that this is just one retailer we are talking about.
The chart below also includes Funtech pricing, just be aware that this retailer has many variants for each CPU; hence we chose the cheapest.
