AMD desktop APUs get a large discount

Recently, the Ryzen 8000G series received a significant $20-$30 price cut, but even better deals have emerged.

The AMD Ryzen 8000G series features Phoenix-based APUs with up to 8 Zen4 cores and up to 12 RDNA3 Compute Units. The standout feature of these processors is their powerful integrated graphics. Two SKUs in the lineup also include XDNA accelerators for AI inference, though these are not yet widely utilized in everyday applications. However, the graphics capabilities are a different story.

The Radeon 780M and Radeon 760M graphics are particularly popular, as they are also used in gaming handhelds powered by the Ryzen 7040U and Ryzen Z1 series. This architecture can sometimes replace discrete graphics, bringing the cost for a new PC down, but of course, they will never be as powerful as proper graphics cards.

B&H Photo Video is offering a promotion on the Ryzen 8000G series, making the prices even more attractive. The 8700G is now priced at $270, a $59 price cut and $30 cheaper than last week. The 6-core 8600G has also been reduced to $182, down from $199, which is $40 below the official MSRP. Additionally, the Zen4/Zen4c-based 8500G has received its first price cut, now available for $159, which is $20 below the MSRP.

Later this month, AMD is introducing the Ryzen 9000 series, including the 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X, which is likely to target a similar price point. However, there is no indication of the non-X variants of the 9000 series yet, which should cost even less.
