AMD preps tongue-twisting Strix Point APUs for business use

It is revealed that AMD will introduce PRO variants of the Ryzen AI 300 series in October.

AMD has two separate product lines within the Ryzen family dedicated to consumers and businesses. The upcoming Ryzen 9000 desktop series and Ryzen AI 300 for laptops will also feature such variants. The Ryzen PRO series are intended for commercial and business use with improved security and manageability options.

We recently had a chance to see the first Ryzen PRO model based on the Strix Point silicon. It was spotted during transit and left a trace in shipping manifests. Thus, the fact that such series are planned is no longer a secret. What isn’t clear, though, is when these processors will launch.

According to Hoang Anh Phu, these CPUs may launch in October. This leaker is quite reliable and seems to be familiar with AMD’s plans. The most recent leaks from Hoang were the Radeon PRO W7900 Dual-Slot and Ryzen 8000F series coming to the DIY market, both confirmed at this point.

Now it is claimed AMD will introduce the Ryzen AI 300 PRO series six months after the Ryzen 8000 PRO. As we know, AMD launched that series in April, and that update included both desktop and mobile variants. This means the Ryzen AI 300 should launch in October.

Hoang revealed the names of the new PRO variants, and as rumored, there is indeed a Ryzen 7 version. The full name for the flagship part is quite a tongue-twister: Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370, which is the consumer version with yet another moniker. Does anyone have any control over these names anymore?

AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series:

  • Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 (100-000001569) 🆕
  • Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 (100-000001571) 🆕
  • Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (100-000000994)
  • Ryzen AI 9 365 (100-000001530)

Although Hoang did not share the specs, the Ryzen 7 part was rumored to be a 12-core processor. However, it would be more reasonable to expect that the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 is a 10-core version, a business-oriented counterpart to the Ryzen AI 9 365. The full specs are yet to be confirmed, however historically speaking, PRO versions were more or less a rebranded consume parts with new features. These lineups are typically smaller and do not focus on high-power TDPs.
