AMD Radeon RX 8000 graphics cards with Navi 48 GPU might be presented at CES 2025

AMD RDNA4 at CES

The rumors about RDNA4 graphics not appearing this year were only a small exaggeration, as the first GPU is said to be expected already at CES.

AMD is currently working on two RDNA4 graphics processors: Navi 48 and Navi 44, both expected to debut in 2025. AMD has not made any official announcements in regard to the next-gen discrete GPU series, but rumors about the new RDNA4 lineup launching in a downsized number are gradually taking shape. So far, only these two GPUs have been spotted in AMD’s open-source driver.

The Navi 48 and 44 are expected to be launched for both desktop and mobile series, however the exact product positioning and its performance remain a mystery.

According to Kepler, the Navi 48 GPU, which is the higher-end GPU than Navi 44, will be unveiled at CES 2025 (January 7-10). AMD generally has a strong presence at this consumer expo, where updates on mobile platforms and other products are often shared. This year, AMD made an exception by introducing their Ryzen AI 300 series a bit earlier. Therefore, in January, AMD and their partners might launch more laptops equipped with brand-new Radeon RX 8000 GPUs.

Oh CES is for N48. N44 is probably Q2.

The RDNA4 GPU known as Navi 44 is expected to launch in the second quarter. By that time, we should be hearing much more about the GeForce RTX 50 mid-range series, which will also have a segmented launch. The flagship RTX 50 models should appear by the end of this year, but NVIDIA typically launches its mid-range GPUs in the months following the flagship GPUs.

It will be very interesting to see where AMD positions its Navi 4X GPUs, given the competition from NVIDIA RTX 50 GPUs and Intel Battlemage. Intel isn’t sharing any significant updates, although Alchemist is now 2 years old. The RDNA4 GPUs should primarily focus on X700 and X600 class GPUs (depending whether we are talking about mobile or desktop models).
