AMD Ryzen 9 9900X tops Geekbench single-core ranking
It looks like samples are finally at the hands of the reviewers.

The 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X is the upcoming “Granite Ridge” processor, featuring 12 Zen5 cores. This isn’t the top SKU in the new lineup, as AMD is also preparing a 16-core variant. However, the 9900X is said to boost up to 5.6 GHz, and even higher with XFR/PBO settings, so it shouldn’t be much slower than 5.7 GHz 9950X in single-core tests.
The first Geekbench score for this 9900X processor has emerged, where it scored 3401 points in the single-core test and 19756 points in the multi-core test. This is the highest score of all desktop CPUs currently listed in Geekbench database.

AMD’s new CPU is at least 10% faster than the Core i9-14900K in the single-core test and around 5% slower in the multi-core workload. Notably, the 9900X is already faster than the 7950X and 7950X3D in multi-core tests, both are 16-core CPUs. Compared to its predecessor, the 7900X, the new CPU is at least 16% faster in single-core and 10% faster in multi-core performance.

It’s worth noting that this is the only benchmark on the Geekbench database so far, and it’s unclear if any PBO-enabled features were used for this test. The remaining data in the chart below is from the official Geekbench ranking, which has a much larger score base.
Another factor to consider is pricing. AMD has yet to confirm the official price for the 9900X, but the company plans to use similar pricing to its last-gen processors at launch. Thus, the 16-core 7950X may still find its place in the market.
Rumors suggest that Ryzen 9000 series may launch on July 31st. One should expect pricing and review disclosure sooner.
