AMD 6-core Zen4 processor drops to $171

Great option for gamers.

AMD is about to launch its Ryzen 9000 series processors equipped with Zen5 cores later this month. However, many budget-conscious gamers will be more interested in deals on current-gen products.

AMD did not release a 6-core processor with 3D V-Cache for the AM5 socket. The cheapest option with this configuration is available only for the AM4 platform and in certain regions. For those seeking budget-friendly solutions for the AM5 socket, there are a few options to consider: the Ryzen 8000G series with built-in RDNA3 graphics, which aren’t ideal for gamers using discrete graphics, or the Ryzen 7500/7600 models based on the desktop Raphael silicon.

The Ryzen 7 7500F isn’t widely available, making the best choices at the lowest price the Ryzen 5 7600 and Ryzen 7 7600X. The 7600X is about 200 MHz faster (5.3 GHz) and has a TDP of 105W, while the non-X version offers a 5.1 GHz clock speed and a 65W TDP.

The Ryzen 5 7600X launched in 2022 at $299, but is now available for just $171, its lowest price ever. This new price is listed on two major US platforms: Amazon and Walmart, with others likely to follow suit.

AMD has not yet announced pricing for the 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X, which is set to be released on July 31st. However, if its price is close to the 7600X launch MSRP ($299), the 7600X at its current price of $171 sounds like a much better option.
