G7 PT is now the fastest AMD Mini-PC

Minisforum is introducing its fastest gaming PC to date.

The AtomMan G7 Pt isn’t an ATX desktop PC, nor is it exactly a Mini-PC (although Minisforum says so). It sits somewhere in between a full desktop PC and a compact system. It does use a desktop-class processor and a dedicated graphics card, so definately much more performing than standard Mini-PC.

The G7 Pt could be seen as a spiritual counterpart to Intel’s NUC Enthusiast series, which were slightly larger systems equipped with high-core count CPUs and discrete graphics. Intel’s latest in this line is the ASUS ROG NUC, now featuring the Core Ultra 9 185H and RTX 4070 graphics. This powerful combination is typically found in high-end gaming laptops, making the ROG NUC quite expensive. However, there’s now an alternative with different specifications.

Minisforum has announced their system as the first AMD Advantage certified Mini-PC. This was achieved by integrating the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX and Radeon RX 7600M XT graphics. The CPU is one of the fastest mobile processors AMD has released, featuring 16 Zen4 cores similar to its desktop counterpart. While it’s not the X3D version, which is available only in two laptops, the Radeon RX 7600M XT is a mid-range model with 8GB 128-bit memory bus and 2048 Stream Processors. Although the RX 7900M would be a better choice, it appears that this SKU is only available in two laptops exclusively.

The PC is equipped with a patented “Cold Wave Ultra” cooling system, capable of dissipating up to 205 watts . This system includes eight heat pipes, four fans, and liquid metal on both the CPU and GPU. The motherboard is placed between two coolers, and the system is designed to stand vertically for optimal cooling.

Being based on the AMD Dragon Range platform (essentially a Raphael desktop die in a BGA package), the system supports PCIe Gen5 SSDs , a rare feature in this form factor. Users can install two SSDs, though the second slot is PCIe Gen4, and reviews indicate Minisforum did not populate the Gen5 socket. Additional features include WiFi 7, a 2.5G Ethernet port, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.0, and USB-C for video output.

What’s missing is OCuLink connector, but since this system has discrete graphics, such a connector may not be as needed as on other Minisforum products. The company confirmed that the PC will start shipping by the end of this month.
