Next-Gen RTX 5090D for China reportedly ready
Leaker claims that NVIDIA will again launch a special version for Chinese market.

NVIDIA is reportedly launching a special edition of the GeForce RTX 5090 for the Chinese market. This would be a successor to the RTX 4090D, which was launched in late 2024 to circumvent the new U.S. export restrictions on high-performance GPUs. While it is unclear what changes the supposed RTX 5090D model would have, it is clear that the focus will be on reducing compute throughput.
The RTX 4090D did not see any major changes to its memory specs; the card launched with the same 24GB GDDR6X memory specs and even had the same memory bandwidth. On the other hand, the number of cores and TDP were affected by stricter restrictions on compute performance, resulting in 11% fewer cores and 50W lower TDP. Initially, this model was factory-locked to 450W, and no factory-overclocked models were available. However, later on, NVIDIA allowed board partners to enable up to 600W, often allowing certain SKUs to be just as fast as the original RTX 4090.
According to Hongxinx2020, NVIDIA would introduce such a successor to this model in January 2025:

Since we are still months away from the supposed launch, the specs may not be fully finalized yet. However, the company has more time to prepare for this launch, so there might be tweaks to the BIOS that would not restrict CUDA core count for gamers, but rather compute performance for AI, which is the main reason such restrictions are in place.
It is believed that NVIDIA will introduce the RTX 50 series by the end of this year, but the exact release may slip to 2025. Expect more information on the new series in the coming months.
