AMD Zen6 and Zen7 confirmed
The company adds Zen6 to its roadmaps, and confirms works on Zen7.

During AMD’s Zen5 Tech Day, AMD disclosed plans for Zen6 and Zen6c architectures, which will be released in the future. AMD did not announce the launch date for the first products based on these architectures, nor did the company confirm the manufacturing nodes. However this is the first time AMD publicly confirmed Zen6 as a successor for Zen5.
AMD CTO Mark Papermaster confirmed that AMD is already working on Zen7 , with a dedicated team similar to Zen6. This has raised questions about potential support through the AM5 socket, with Zen6 likely to be part of the lineup.

ComputerBase noted some confusion at Tech Day when an engineer mentioned that the AM5 socket is supposed to support four generations of Ryzen CPUs. However, this was later clarified by AMD. The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting AM5 through 2027 and beyond, ensuring compatibility for at least five years.
We wanted to clarify one of the comments made on stage during the engineering roundtable. During the session Joe made a comment about four generations of CPU support on the AM5 platform. This was meant to be a hypothetical to prompt discussion around designing a platform that spans multiple years and generations, as opposed to starting with a fresh platform each time.
As announced at Computex, we remain committed that the AM5 platform will be supported through 2027+.

Until the end of 2027, there are 41 months remaining, and the update from Zen4 to Zen5 took 22 months. If AMD maintains a similar launch cycle, Zen6 is expected to launch on the AM5 socket, while a potential Zen7 update might debut on a follow-up socket.
ComputerBase speculates that the next-generation platform (potentially AM6) could go hand in hand with the industry’s transition to DDR6 memory and PCIe Gen6. The current platform is already capable of supporting the latest storage available (PCIe Gen5) and memory (DDR5) solutions.
Details on Zen6 are currently scarce, but rumors suggest it may incorporate the RDNA5 architecture for graphics. This would represent a significant upgrade over RDNA2, which is currently used in Ryzen 9000 processors.

AMD will also be focusing on advancing artificial intelligence acceleration with its future architectures. The current generation of Ryzen AI 300 series, which supports up to 50 TOPs, is seen as insufficient for more advanced tasks. In the future, users can expect improvements such as agentic AI, always-on AI data, and larger language models.
