Ryzen 9 9900X vs 7800X3D in gaming
SaddyTech has the world’s first gaming review of Zen5.

Italian tech reviewer SaddyTech has obtained a sample of AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 9 9900X processor shortly before its launch. Officially, these processors are set to be released next week, but it seems there is little reason to wait for the review for those not included in AMD’s sampling.
Saddy’s review focuses on gaming, which is probably the most discussed topic. His 9900X sample is not an engineering sample but a proper retail unit manufactured last month (as noted by 2424 laser engraving). It’s a 12-core CPU featuring a boost of up to 5.6 GHz. It also uses 120W TDP and is expected to hit the market at around €500 to €550.
The reviewer used a GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card and an X670 motherboard and DDR5-7200 memory. The CPU was cooled by a Be Quiet Dark Rock 4 air cooler.

A YouTuber noticed that the Ryzen 9 9900X may also require more power in certain games. For example, in Counter-Strike 2, the 9900X requires up to 107W, while the 7800X3D only needs 53W. In terms of temperatures, the 9900X runs around 67°C compared to 63°C for the 7800X3D. However, in games like Cyberpunk, temperatures can go much higher, reaching up to 82°C.
The reviewer determined that the 7800X3D should still be a better choice, especially considering it is expected to be cheaper. However, AMD has not yet confirmed the final prices. The Ryzen 9000 series officially launches on July 31.
