ASRock launches first Thin Mini-ITX motherboard with AMD AM5 socket, supports Ryzen 9000 CPUs

ASRock X600TM-ITX board

World’s first “Thin Mini ITX” with AM5 socket.

This is as close as DIY builders can get to their own NUC systems. The Mini-ITX board features a proper AM5 socket, which occupies nearly a quarter of the board. It is not designed for high-end gaming or overclocking. Instead, it supports Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 CPUs up to 65W and is marketed as an ideal match for the Ryzen 8000G APU series, which includes integrated graphics.

ASRock claims this is the first AM5 board in a Thin Mini-ITX form factor. For those unfamiliar with this design, the I/O shield height is typically 25mm instead of the regular 44mm. These boards usually use SODIMM memory and have integrated onboard power supply support, eliminating the need for an ATX power supply. Additionally, the CPU location is fixed.

With the AM5 socket, users can prioritize high CPU performance or graphics. This choice is especially important given that there is no easy option for installing discrete graphics. The X600TM-ITX lacks PCIe slots, including even a x1 slot, so any potential PCIe solutions would need to rely on adapters, such as M.2. However, other ITX form factor solutions do offer PCIe slots. If you are looking to build a compact PC with powerful graphics, you might need to explore other options. The good news is that most AM5 processors now come with integrated graphics, though only the Phoenix-based series offer sufficient power for gaming.

X600TM-ITX

  • Thin Mini-ITX
  • Supports AMD AM5 Socket CPUs (Ryzen™ 9000, 8000 and 7000 Series Processors, up to 65W)
  • Supports Intel® CPU Cooler
  • Supports Dual DDR5 6400+(OC)MHz memory, Max. 96GB
  • Multi Video Outputs: Dual HDMI, one DisplayPort, one LVDS
  • Quad Storage Devices: Dual Hyper M.2 Socket (PCIe Gen4 x4 & SATA 6Gb), Dual SATA 6Gb
  • Abundant USB Ports:
  • 1 USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C port,
  • 1 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A Port,
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen1 Ports

The X600TM-ITX is designed for HTPCs (Home Theater PCs), a category that has experienced a decline in popularity with the rise of prebuilt Mini-PC solutions. This board provides more flexibility in choosing the processor and memory compared to some Mini-PCs that also offer such options.

The ASRock board officially supports up to 96GB of DDR5-6400 memory (overclocked). ASRock offers several versions of this board, featuring either one or two HDMI ports, one DisplayPort, or LVDS connectors. Since Thin Mini-ITX is an Intel specification, this motherboard is also compatible with Intel CPU coolers.

ASRock has not yet announced pricing.
