Erying unveils 14700HX, 14650HX and 14900HX based Mobile on Desktop platforms

Chinese media report that Erying is launching new motherboards featuring Intel 14th Gen Core CPUs. This isn’t a bundle with a desktop CPU, but a pre-soldered mobile CPU with a integrated heat spreader and support for desktop coolers. These are Core-HX variants, known as the ‘muscle’ segment, representing desktop specs in a mobile form factor.
In other words, the MoDT (Mobile On DeskTop) platform here is a kind of reversed hybrid. First, a desktop-class CPU uses a mobile BGA package, then it is installed on a desktop motherboard. There are some details to consider, such as the lack of upgradability (the CPU cannot be removed) and limited overclocking support. However, since this is a Core-HX platform, more PCIe lanes are available (these motherboards have two PCIe slots, but only one is PCIe 4.0×16, and the other is presumably PCIe 4.0×4).
CPU options include Core i7-14650HX (8P+8E), Core i7-14700HX (8P+12E), or Core i9-14900HX (8P+16E). Erying claims that PL1/PBP (Processor Base Power) up to 150 watts is supported. The PL2/MTP (Maximum Turbo Power) goes up to 165W , so not much higher.
The board uses a Micro-ATX form factor and supports all four DDR5 UDIMM slots up to 5600 MT/s (overclocked memory). The company claims up to 192GB of capacity is supported. Polestar MoDT series have up to two M.2 2280 slots.
The company did not confirm pricing or release dates, but keep in mind these boards are typically only offered in China.
