The X1 dual-screen laptop is not for gamers
Powered by Core i7-1255U CPU.

ACEMAGIC has announced that its X1 dual-screen laptop is now available for preorder. It is evident that this laptop is not intended for gamers; in fact, it offers very little for this demographic. However, those in the business sector might find it interesting.
As a reminder, the X1 is a dual-screen laptop that was announced before Computex. The company has now confirmed that the laptop will be powered by an Intel Core i7-1255U processor , a low-power Alder Lake CPU. It’s a low-end processor with only 2 P-Cores and 8 E-Cores, boosting up to 4.7 GHz with a nominal TDP of 15W.

The laptop has DDR4 memory and currently, there’s only one configuration available with 16GB onboard. Users can also use 1TB of storage and can add secondary storage if they want to.
The CPU and memory are not top-tier specs, but this laptop is not intended to be powerful. On the contrary, this laptop has a unique feature: a dual 14-inch screen with a 1080p resolution . Interestingly, the screens fold in a 360-degree angle, so once folded it looks like a normal laptop. The secondary screen is attached through a special mechanical hinge to the side of the primary screen. The system’s weight distribution allows it to remain static. However, the company did not provide the full specs, including the weight of the system, so it’s hard to say if it wobbles and how sturdy this setup is.

The Acemagic X1 currently has one competitor, the GPD DUO OLED. Neither system is available yet, but it is clear that the GPD system will be much faster and more premium. The screens will have higher resolution and will use OLED technology, not to mention a faster APU with graphics expected to be a lot faster (gaming capable). There’s also support for newer storage technology (PCIe 3.0 vs. 4.0) with larger capacity and faster memory (DDR4 vs. LPDDR5X).
The X1 launches mid-August at $899/€899 . The company has already opened its preorder page, but it is strongly advised not to preorder this laptop before any reviews are available.
