AOOSTAR AG01 supports OCuLink and Lenovo TGX standards

Aoostar has announced that its AG01 OCuLink GPU dock is will be available or purchase in the coming days. The most important information about this launch is the pricing, set at $149, which also includes a 400W power supply.

The AG01 is a GPU docking station designed to connect to a desktop PC, mini-PC, or laptop through an OCuLink connection. It does not feature USB or M.2 SSD slots, focusing only on the external GPU part. What sets this dock apart from competitors is its built-in power supply, a compact 400W unit supporting graphics cards up to 250W .

Although Aoostar advises against exceeding this power limit, users can potentially use it with a reduced power profile, though for that to work, be careful not to exceed the power limit before applying new settings. To be safe, the recommended GPUs for this dock are the GeForce RTX 4070 or Radeon RX 7700 XT , and it comes with two 8-pin power connectors .

The device is quite compact, measuring only 22.5 x 11 x 6 cm and weighing 1.6 kg (with the power supply included). The GPU connection relies on the OCuLink standard, enabling up to 64 Gbps of speed through PCIe 4.0 x4 lanes. This standard is compatible with Lenovo’s TGX format , which supports hot-swapping GPUs. This is particularly useful for the 2024 Lenovo ThinkBook 14+ / 16+ Core Edition laptops, which utilize the TGX interface for hot-swappable GPU support.
