Lenovo website hints at new Legion Go with 7-inch screen, dual-fan cooling

Lenovo Legion Go getting “Lite” edition with 7-inch screen, HDMI output

A New Legion is approaching.

Lenovo has been relatively quiet about its plans for the Legion Go series, only hinting that a new device will be released once it’s ready . Meanwhile, competitors like ASUS with the ROG Ally X and MSI with the Claw featuring Lunar Lake are unveiling new devices.

Back in May, it was hinted that Lenovo might launch a smaller version of its console. Unfortunately, other than the smaller screen size, no further details, including a release date, have been revealed. According to the product page for the Legion Go, the series might undergo some changes, changes that may be related to this update.

The page indicates that the new device will have two fans , whereas the current Go model has only one. It also mentions screen sizes of 8 and 7 inches , even though the current version is 8.8 inches. Additionally, the page states that the handheld will include an HDMI port , which is not present in the current model.

It’s important to note that these changes to the product page appeared several weeks ago, possibly sparking the rumors of the smaller 7-inch variant. What’s also important is that these updates were made after the release of the current Legion Go model.

The hardware-specs aside, Lenovo needs to step up their game with software. The community is frustrated with now slowly the company introduces features, often already available on competing devices. The good news it is relatively easy to mod or simply install official AMD drivers. Even the features like AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 (which is still in beta) with special performance modes for integrated graphics have already been tested by some users on Legion Go.

Neither ASUS nor Lenovo have confirmed plans to launch AMD Strix Point-based handhelds. In fact, no company has made such an announcement, including Chinese-based manufacturers. It seems they are either waiting for the Strix Halo, said to have more powerful graphics, or AMD is still finalizing the specs for the Ryzen Z2 series.
