NVIDIA RTX 4070 with GDDR6 non-X memory gets first specs leak

Another leaker confirms speculation by Asian media.

A new graphics card is reportedly in development, confirming earlier rumors. MEGAsizeGPU, a reliable source for NVIDIA leaks, has provided an update on the RTX 4070 GDDR6 . According to the latest information, the card does exist and is being developed under the PG141 SKU347 codename.

The PG141 is also used by the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Ti, so the board design will remain unchanged. However, NVIDIA plans to equip this new model with non-X GDDR6 memory, which will run at a slightly lower speed of 20 Gbps compared to the previous 21 Gbps based on GDDR6X technology. As a result, the bandwidth will decrease by 24 GB/s, going from 504 GB/s to 480 GB/s.

Importantly, there are no changes to the CUDA core count, so the new variant will still feature 5,888 cores . This will be the first NVIDIA GPU with 20 Gbps GDDR6 memory, exceeding the speed of GDDR6X memory in the RTX 30 series for models below the 3090 Ti (which was a test vehicle for the RTX 4090).

There is no timeline for this release, and it is unclear how it will be marketed and where it will be sold. If NVIDIA decides to sell this card globally, it will likely get an official introduction and potentially a broader release through various custom designs. It is clear though that NVIDIA is not done with the RTX 40 series, and that this may not be the last card to receive cheaper memory.
